DIP, Development and Demonstration Support of Customized AI Solutions to Solve Manufacturing Issues in the Intelligent Machine Industry

Daegu City and Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency (hereinafter referred to as DIP) support the ‘development and verification of demand-tailored AI solutions’ to establish an AI convergence foundation for Daegu’s intelligent machine industry.
This project is part of the 'Manufacturing AI Convergence Infrastructure Creation Project' led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), and will select and support five consortiums comprised of AI/SW companies (supply companies) and manufacturing companies (demand companies) located in Daegu.
The selected companies will be supported with 350 million won in AI solution development and verification support in the first year and 105 million won in AI solution advancement and verification support in the second year. In addition, 187.5 million won in regional cross-verification support in the second year will be additionally supported for two consortiums that received excellent grades in the first-year annual evaluation.
Daegu City has a plan to foster high value-added industries by focusing on intelligent machinery as a key industry and making manufacturing innovation processes and parts technology smart in the machinery field. In particular, it is focusing on efficiently improving manufacturing issues of key industries in the Daegu region, such as labor, raw materials, manufacturing facilities, manufacturing environment, and energy, through AI solutions.
A DIP official explained, "We will match AI development companies with manufacturing companies to support the development of customized AI solutions for each manufacturing issue, and we aim to solve existing problems by developing AI-based platforms and building smart manufacturing systems."
Specifically, ▷'Development of a universal platform for vision inspection based on deep learning to eliminate cowl cross defects (Computer Mate-Sewon Precision)' in the current issue of labor manufacturing, ▷'Intelligent solution for supply chain management to reduce raw material costs (Bluesys, SWIIT-Sambo Motors)' in the current issue of raw material manufacturing, ▷'Establishment of a zero-shot deep learning-based smart manufacturing Drilling Insert Steel 3D recognition and defect detection system using multiple 2D Vision equipment (Ocean Light AI-ESPOTECH)' in the current issue of manufacturing equipment manufacturing, ▷'Development and verification of an AI solution for inspection intelligence and safety accident prevention intelligence using an edge AI vision inspector (MJ Vision Tech-Pyeonghwa Oil Seal Industry)' in the current issue of manufacturing environment manufacturing, and ▷'Development of an AI solution for carbon emission management and smart high-temperature measurement to realize Net-Zero (Uniba, J Solution, Big Wave AI-Daedong Metal)' in the current issue of energy manufacturing. We are promoting a project to support the development and verification of AI solutions.
DIP selected consortiums in all five manufacturing issue areas (labor, raw materials, manufacturing environment, manufacturing facilities, and energy) through a public contest in July and August, and plans to hold a performance report meeting in December.
